About Basair

Basair AustraliaFind out about our staff and the aircraft we have on line here.

Learning to fly is one of the most exhilarating experiences you will ever have. The freedom of flight is almost without bounds, and everyone at Basair will be helping you towards achieving that freedom.

Flying training is a specialised field that requires professionalism, a real emphasis on safety, and of course - a sense of humour. You need to feel comfortable at your school, and with your instructor. You need a school that has a solid reputation for quality, and one that provides you with value for money. You also want a school that prides itself on keeping customers happy.

Basair is a progressive, imaginative and exciting school that provides all of the above. We have a wide range of quality training courses, a diverse fleet of aircraft maintained to the highest standards, a building with the best in facilities and most importantly - a professional team of instructors.

And flying is always great fun at Basair!

Training

In order to provide the best possible training, we constantly refine and improve our courses – whether the course is for someone flying for fun, or for a career.

Basair has trained pilots who want a new, exciting hobby, as well as pilots who are now flying in major airlines. We offer accredited courses for Certificates in Aviation for Private and Commercial Pilot licence level, plus Certificate, Diploma and professional Pilot Series courses for career pilots. These courses are accredited by the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) of NSW. This accreditation is a recognition of the quality of our courses, and is your guarantee of a high standard.

Our courses are structured to make use of the most modern training methods available. We have two modern flight simulators, one of which is a full motion multi engine system. Use of this equipment is incorporated into all of our training. We also have an extensive video library, and are developing a complete computer aided briefing system.

Overseas student accreditation - CRICOS

Basair is listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Our CRICOS number is 01552D.

Facilities

Basair is set in an ideal location near the centre of Bankstown Airport, adjacent to the shopping centre for the airport. The school comprises a modern building complex containing classrooms, simulator facilities, pilot lounge, and administration. The building is fully air conditioned as it is important for you to feel comfortable at your flying school.

Basair is not just a flying school! We have a lounge area for your use, a bar-be-que area with picnic tables, plus a fully equipped flight planning room with fax and telephone facilities. Shower facilities are also available at the school if you require them.

The school is open seven days a week, from 8:00am to 5:30pm, and you are welcome to call in at any time for a cup of coffee - there is always someone to answer any questions you have on training courses.

Instructors

We can only provide quality courses with quality teachers. Our instructors are all trained professionals, and are continually being evaluated and retrained to maintain the highest standards. You will also quickly see how well the team at Basair works together.

Flying training is a personal experience between you and your instructor . At Basair your instructor will get to know you, how you fly, what your strengths and weaknesses are. Additionally, the Chief Flying Instructor oversees all training, and will happily discuss your training with you at any time.

Aircraft

With a selection of different types available for you to hire, the Basair fleet is one of the most comprehensive in the region. Some of our advanced touring aircraft are even equipped with the latest satellite navigation system. From our basic trainers, to our advanced multi engine turbo-charged aircraft, there is certainly an aircraft to meet your needs.

Location

Basair is located at Bankstown Airport, just 25km south-west of Sydney. Just a thirty minute drive from the city centre brings you to this centre - the busiest airport in the southern hemisphere. We are fortunate at Bankstown that even with such activity, we have almost no delays due to a runway complex of four runways. Bankstown also has a control tower - ensuring our students are trained in a professional airspace environment from their very first lesson. It has long been said that "if you can fly at Bankstown - you can fly anywhere!". Students who learn to fly at Bankstown have the skills and experience to be able to fly into the busiest of airports with ease and confidence.

Bankstown is also located right next to the "training area", where all basic training is conducted. There are no long flights to the training area - your lesson begins as soon as you are airborne! Coupled with the close location to Sydney and public transport links means that you have the very best in convenience at Bankstown.

Into the future...

We have always been at the forefront of technology at Basair. Computer aided training, the latest digital flight simulators, extensive audio-visual training aids are just some examples.

The information superhighway is the road to the future, and Basair was the first Australian flying school on the Internet, and one of the first flying schools in the world to launch into CyberSpace. We have electronic mail facilities, as well as a full information service on the World Wide Web.
