Bankstown Airport Information
Bankstown Airport is located about 25km south west of the City of
Sydney. It is a General Aviation airport, catering mainly for aircraft
below 5700kg maximum takeoff weight, although larger aircraft are easily
accommodated. The airport is the busiest airport in the southern
hemisphere, handling some 450,000+ movements each year. The runway complex
consists of three parallel runway, in the 110°/290° orientation, and
one runway in the 180°/360° direction. The airport elevation is 29

GAAP - Fixed Wing Operations:
A. Circuits. a.
The circuit Altitude is 1000 feet on Bankstown QNH. b.
Circuit Operations are to be conducted within a 2nm radius of the ARP.
c. Ops on RWY 11C/29C shall conform to the 11L/29R circuit
direction.
B. Departure Routes:
All aircraft shall depart the Control zone on Upwind, crosswind or
Downwind by extending the relevant leg of the circuit and then tracking clear
of the GA Approach points and associated routes.
C. Departure Altitudes:
a. Aircraft departing RWY 29 or 36 shall depart the
CTR on climb to 1000 feet on BK QNH. b. Aircraft
departing rwy11 or 18 shall depart the CTR on climb to 1500 feet on BK QNH.
D. Arrival Routes
Arriving aircraft shall track via and report at one of the following CTR
Approach points on 132.8: Prospect (the North Eastern shore) or 2RN (South
of the mast).
E. Aircraft instructed to enter the
circuit on UPWIND shall do so at 1500 feet on BK QNH.
F. Aircraft instructed to OVERFLY
shall do so at 1500 feet on Bankstown QNH.
G. Arrival Altitudes
a. Aircraft arriving when RWY 29 or 36 is in use shall
enter the CTR at 1500 feet on BK QNH and shall maintain 1500 feet until on the
downwind leg of the circuit, abeam the upwind end of the runway.
b. When RWY 11 or 36 is in use, Aircraft arriving from
Prospect or from 2RN and tracking via Cabramatta (Warwick Farm), shall enter
the the CTR at 1000 feet on BK QNH.
GENERAL:
A. Aircraft Departing OCTA shall change frequency when
3 miles From the BK control boundary. B. Aircraft are
subject to the flight in proximity provisions specified in AIP OPS para
42.2 only if OPR within 3 miles of the Bankstown control boundary.
C. Aircraft departing Bankstown for landing or practice ILS
at Sydney should contact Bankstown Ground prior to start to ascertain any
unexpected delay. D. All aircraft subject to an Airways
Clearance shall report "Ready" prior to leaving the run-up bays, to avoid
congestion at the holding point. E. Aircraft shall remain
on tower frequency after landing until clear of all runways in the runway
complex. F. Taxying aircraft shall give way to all
aircraft exiting a runway. G. All aircraft overflying
Hoxton Park, refer to Hoxton Park's own special procedures in the AIP
ERSA.
NOISE ABATEMENT:
A. The preferred runway direction is 29
B. For all operations between first light and 2100.
a. Ops in the 29
direction shall be confined to 29L, except that 29C can be used if
operationally required.
b. Ops in the 11 direction shall be confined to 11R, except
that 11C can be used if operationally required. C.
Between the hours of 0900 or last light , whichever is later, to 2100, Right
Hand circuits are mandatory when operating in the RWY 11 direction & left
hand circuits are mandatory when operating in the RWY 29 direction.
D. Circuit training is permitted only between 2000 and
1300 Monday to Friday and between 2000 and last light on Saturday and Sunday.
