What is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)?
In Australia, there are two types of post High School academic pursuits.
Universities teach courses such as Bachelor Degrees, Masters and Doctorates.
The second path for students is vocational education. Vocational education courses put more emphasis on job related skills, and are designed with specific career paths in mind.
Basair Aviation College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which means that we are licensed to provide authorised vocational courses. We currently have 3 vocational courses;
- Certificate IV in Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence)
- Advanced Diploma in Aviation (Instructor Rating)
- Advanced Diploma in Aviation (ATPL)
Our courses have been designed specifically for the aviation sector, and are equivalent to CASA issued qualifications.
Why Choose a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
There are many advantages to training at an RTO, and it is strongly recommended that students who are pursuing a career in aviation choose an RTO to complete their study.
RTOs are authorised by their State Government. To become authorised as an RTO requires the flying school to clearly demonstrate they have;
- Sufficient aircraft for students to progress at a satisfactory rate
- Their course delivery is structured, with scheduled theory classes and scheduled flights
- Assessment is conducted in a fair and equitable way, with sufficient feedback to students
- Instructors are trained as teachers, as well as being trained as aviation instructors. Our instructors have (or are working towards) an academic qualification in teaching that is independent of the aviation industry.
To avoid signing up for a school that does not have the capacity or infrastructure to teach all of their students, students should study at a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
