Pilot Support Pack

The Pilot Support Packs give students the opportunity to make a one-off simple payment for many of the incremental items that are required when studying aviation.

When choosing a course between aviation colleges, it is important that students are aware of what additional costs they need to pay. Basair makes this easy for students by listing all of the items in the Pilot Support Packs.

For example, if a student fails a flight test they must pay for the second test separately. Similarly, if a student loses their log book they must pay for a second log book separately.

Textbooks
Basair uses the Dyson-Holland textbooks for all theory up to the CPL level. The Dyson-Holland series are recognized as being the most comprehensive set of text books available in the Australian market. They are distinctive in the market with excellent diagrams, practice questions and easy to read format. Students will keep these textbooks as a reference throughout their aviation career.

Theory Exams
Students are required to pass theory exams prior to their flight tests. These exams are done at the ASL. If students fail an exam, they need to pay for any resit themselves.

CASA Fees
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulates the aviation industry in Australia. They have several charges for students. These are included in the Pilot Support Pack.

Authorised Testing Officer (ATO) fees
Flight tests are conducted by Authorised Testing Officers (ATOs.) Each ATO charges a fee for a flight test. If a student fails a flight test, they need to pay for the second test themselves.

Landings
Airservices Australia manages Australia's airspace. To fund this management, they charge for each landing at an airport. The Pilot Support Pack includes enough landings for most students to complete the course.
